Style Series: Crazy for Coco

Crazy for Coco? J’adore Dior? … Today’s style series topic is for those who have a little lust for labels!  I for one love looking through the pages of Vogue magazine & falling in love with the stunning Choo heels and amazing advertisements that adorn the pages wishing i had a platinum card to buy it all! lol  However all though an all out designer lifestyle isn’t quite in reach for the majority of us it doesn’t mean to say the looks & style of weddings & celebrations can’t be inspired by them.

One of the most iconic designers is of course Coco Chanel.  The perfume, the make up, the bags and the clothes are all stunning.  When i think of Chanel i think of elegance, romance, beauty, timeless, statement & of course luxury.  All wonderful adjectives for a wedding – yes?  So why not let Chanel be the inspiration behind your big day.

Start of by doing a brainstorm of what comes to mind when you think Chanel.  Write all the words down (as i did earlier), hop over to Pinterest and start a board.  If you click here you can see some ideas on our designer weddings inspired board to get some ideas.

You don’t have to theme the wedding all things Coco if that’s not what you’re looking for.  It’s about being inspired by Chanel and the feeling the label oozes out to people.  If you want to give a subtle nod to the Chanel label then consider a few of the ideas in the below images.

When you are thinking of a Chanel inspired wedding think about the colours – Black, White & Pink are of course the most closely associated ones and this is more than likely what you will automatically see when searching online for ideas.  If you feel that the colour scheme will work for your wedding then roll with it, if it’s a little to bold for you then i suggest working a mix of soft and bold pinks, white and hints of Gold for that gorgeous elegant, luxurious feel.

Florals are brilliant as they really ooze elegance and gold touches bring in the glam factor.  You can interpret this however how you like because your are not theming your wedding to be Chanel you are letting yourself be inspired by the design house or the woman herself.

Chanel is the ultimate French chic label and is a wedding style closely associated with Chanel, check out our French Chic board for further ideas.  Think classy and understated glamour.  Light colours, luxury linens and great food will really capture that Je ne sais quoi vibe.

There are of course plenty of other touches that bring in the French chic feel of Chanel.  Consider a Macaroon tower for your guests as opposed to a cake or a sweetie buffet.  If you have the budget maybe Chanel perfume or makeup as a thank you gift to your maids.

It’s all about re-creating the feeling you get when you think of the brand, you want to capture it and allow your guests to feel as though they are emerged in the world of Coco Chanel.  This is a wonderful style for anyone wanting that perfectly elegant yet luxury feel.  There is nothing stopping you adding your own personal touches here and there as well as it’s important to show your personality.  The brilliant thing about labels is that they appeal to everyone in different ways so take a style or a design house or a literally anything you want and interpret it your own way.
