Dreamy Destination Weddings
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Whilst I sit here typing this post i am actually looking out to blues skies and sunshine in the West Midlands! Very welcoming sight and even more inspiring for today’s post which is focused on destination weddings.
Destination weddings have seen a huge increase over the past few years. There are many factors for this including cost, it is much cheaper to get married abroad with the average destination wedding coming in at around 7-8k compared to the average cost of a UK wedding which is currently at around 20k. Couples are also saving by combining the wedding with the honeymoon. Weather is of course another major reason people from the UK choose to go abroad, guaranteed Sunshine or even guaranteed Snow if you choose a colder destination – you don’t need to take a risk like you do in the UK.

Weddings abroad also offer much more freedom. With such a choice of amazing locations on offer you can get married anywhere from a gorgeous remote beach to a wedding in the grounds of a stunning French Chateau. Outdoor weddings are beautiful and destination weddings really give UK couples much more scope in this area.

If you are thinking of getting married abroad ensure you research the laws of the country well first to see if the wedding is legal or to see if you need to a UK registry office wedding alongside it. Make sure you research the wedding planning companies and choose one you feel comfortable with. There are so many out there so it’s important to contact a few and find the right vibe for you. I strongly recommend using a wedding planning company as opposed to a travel agents as you have so much more choice and freedom with a planning company and they are after all experts on weddings in those countries.

Europe is a popular choice for UK couples looking at weddings abroad what with Italy and Greece being the favourites. France is also a favourite of many – bear in mind you need to a French resident for at least 40 days to legally marry there so you would need to have a UK civil wedding first.

There are many other beautiful European locations rising in popularity such as Malta, Croatia, Finland, Portugal etc.,
If you are looking at more far-flung locations you can’t go wrong with the Caribbean, Maldives, Mexico, Bali and the various beautiful Island locations around the world.

It is always a good idea to do some research into the destinations you like if you don’t know much about them. You will need to look into things such as the season – the Caribbean Islands have their rainy season during the UK’s summer so you will need to be aware of things like that – especially if you want an outdoor wedding. Take a look at the different types of packages on offer to see what you can get for your money.
The USA is another popular place for UK couples to head to for their wedding. Whether you are wanting a beautiful big family affair at Disneyland or a chic New York wedding there is so much on offer in America.

Of course when it comes to Destination Weddings the world is your oyster. The internet has really broadened the choices we can now make for weddings abroad as it really is all so easy to find. My advice is to just to make sure you research the laws of the country for weddings to ensure it is possible and to find a good wedding planner to help you.
